Any Ideas where I can get tip-out drawers that are smaller than 11 inches. I bought the 11" set and they are just a tad bit too big for the opening?

A tip-out tray is the perfect place to accumulate water, mold, and scum. It's more work to keep clean and dry than it's worth in decluttering the sink. Even if it's vented, it doesn't work.

Seconding the comments re. not wanting to put damp items in a dark drawer. The mold, the bacteria, the "unfreshness"! And I agree with the commenter who pointed out that sponges and toothbrushes are not clutter. They are accepted parts of kitchen/bathroom counter life.

Our apartment's kitchen sink has a tip-out front with a shelf behind it that opens into the rest of the cabinet, not a tray. There are ventilation holes drilled in the floor of the cabinet, too, in the toe-kick area.

The ones on my sink have keyhole style screw slots holding them to the fake drawer front. Just slide them up and they come right out. I throw them in the dishwasher about once a week.

^^^ I thought about that too, but I also thought (perhaps imagined) that the back of the drawer in the photo was vented? If I can't find (or make one) that's vented that's not going to work. Wet in an enclosed, dark space is n'good.

Gail, that's what I was thinking! I have enough trouble keeping sponges and the like clean and odor-free even when I let them dry out on the counter(where there is light and air circulation).

I might use one for things like cleaning toothbrushes, cleaning gloves, or something like that, but not for my everyday sponge.

Am I the only one who removes theirs?!?! I cannot tell you how much the thought of putting a wet sponge (or toothbrush - even worse) in a dark cabinet makes me cringe. This seems like the perfect environment to grow bacteria and mold! If you have ever moved into a home and seen what grows on these things when they haven't been cleaned - a great science fair project to say the least! And for the record, I am not a clean freak/germ phobe :)

It seems these tip-out trays just create extra work for you. You either have to clean them regularly or ensure that everything that goes in them is clean and dry ("dry the toothbrush thoroughly"??!!) Would it not be better to accept that the kitchen and bathroom sinks will have a small number of important, frequently-used items permanently visible next to them, rather than spending your time doing unnecessary cleaning and drying? Items that are used often and are left out where they are most conveniently accessed are not a bad kind of clutter.

<i>"(b) dry the toothbrush thoroughly before placing in the tray"</i>

How do you dry a toothbrush thoroughly? Blow dryer? I don't have time to be drying my toothbrush.

Never would have even thought of these! All the places I've lived had the faux drawer fronts. Definitely will keep it in mind for when I buy a house!

Our house had the beginnings of these tip-out trays in the kitchen - the panels were outfitted with the hinges. However, the little trays weren't there. I picked up a couple of skinny plastic silverware trays from the dollar store, a few washers and screws, and tah dah! Cheap tip-out trays.
