The Onion’s fake gift boxes
In the spirit of Unitasker Wednesday, the always hilarious Onion has some great gag gift boxes for the holidays. The boxes feature six fake products that will surely confuse the recipient.
The boxes are available in a set of six or individually through the Onion’s online store. While these are obviously fake products, they aren’t that far out of the realm of some of the unitaskers we have featured here over the past year and a half.
I enjoyed the USB Toaster and the iFeast, an iPod dock for your pet’s food bowl, but they play second fiddle to my personal favorite: The Visorganizer. From the “product” description:
Use your head and stay organized! The Visorganizer is a revolutionary carrying case for everything you need to make it through your busy day whether you’re a pro golfer, a retired ship builder, a club DJ, or a busy mom on the go. And it clips on the front of your favorite hat. Pack it with up to 7 lbs. If it has a visor, it needs a Visorganizer!
I wonder how long it will take someone to actually invent a saleable Visorganizer?

If this is any indication, not long.

Seriously, I think my sister would be disappointed to open the visorganizer box and receive something else. She’s a freak about both visors and organization. I once had to talk her out of wearing a visor she made out of a paper plate because she left the house without her visor or sunglasses and we were going to be outside all day. Thankfully, I was able to reason with her that since we may run into people I worked with, she shouldn’t meet them wearing a paper plate on her forehead. I’m still not certain she understood why I would have been embarrassed…

If only they had’ve mentioned it earlier. USB Toaster must be the perfect pointless nerd gift… hahaha.

I am related to people who would buy the Visorganizer, unfortunately. Every time we see their car it’s filled with a dozen+ visors with random crap clipped to them. And they wear them. Of course, these are the same people who purchased electric heated slippers that plug into the wall like an electric blanket. I thought at first they were joking, alas no.
Aside: I’ve always wondered why people who wear visors also seem to adore high waters.

And here I thought I invented this idea! This year my college-aged nephew thought he was getting fuzzy dice cufflinks for Christmas. I designed the box using elements from the internet subtly pasted together. His mother helped by looking worried and telling him that I had heard they were all the rage among college students. You can only do this with people with a quirky sense of humor. Fortunately for me, my nephew is one of these people.

7 lbs! If someone invented one of these you’d want to be a trained water bearer to wear one!
