Hi, I just bought my Scan Snap a week ago! The quality of the images is just fine for me. I am still trying to figure out how I want to store my scans so Erin, I am also curious about the back-up system you use.

@ Amy, I scanned a few hundred pages of magazine articles, book pages that I tore out, old datebook pages on stiiff paper and handwritten notes from field trips (rain warped and such). It handles everything sooooo easily!
I have not printed anything from the PDF's so I can't speak to that.

The scan speed is super fast, the software is great and the machine is about the size of my old blue-collar lunch box.

Thanks! One more question? Are you backing up your whole machine, and if so are you using some kind of auto-mirror program and an external hard drive? Sorry if I somehow missed the details elsewhere (I'm relatively new to your site).

@Amy -- I don't know how high quality of scans you're desiring. Look at the specs on the manufacturer's site for exact details about the scan quality. I scan photographs on mine and can print the images without any problems.

I back up my machine about four times an hour and swap out the drive to an off-site location once a week.

I assume the ScanSnap also does high-quality image scans? I looked at the Amazon listing and I didn't notice particular mention of that. I ask because I'm in the market for a new scanner anyway, and this might be just the ticket.

Also, I'm curious -- if you're scanning all your important documents, how and how often do you back up, and where do you store the back-ups (if you don't mind my asking)?

I enjoy your site -- keep up the good work! (And Happy Thanksgiving!)
