Golf for the serious unclutterer

We’ve written about golf solutions in the past including reducing the number of clubs you carry, picking up Dad’s greens fees and renting clubs. Now, we’ve got another clutter solution for you to see.

The All-in-One Golf Club could revolutionize your golf game … or at least your closet space. The club adjusts the loft based on whether you want to hit with a driver, iron or putter. It accommodates both the odd and the even irons and allows you to select a half size such as a 5 1/2 iron. I don’t know many people who can distinguish a 5 from a 6 but that 5 1/2 option is available if you need it.

The best part about this club is that it collapses to just 17 inches in length. And, there is a custom bag designed to be worn as a fanny pack while you golf, complete with small storage for tees, balls and a beverage.

I have not tried the All-in-One Golf Club myself, but if you’re looking for a unique gift or need to seriously reduce your golf clutter, this may be a good option for you.

Hmm, I’m surprised at this subject for a post. The folks who read Unclutterer don’t seem to me to be a really golf-y crowd. And the paraphernalia for pursuing golf doesn’t seem super-cluttery. A bag of clubs, a dozen balls, some shoes . . .

Certainly, the equipment and tools for any hobby or endeavor can turn into clutter. Many of us (me included) have a tendency to go overboard when taking up a new interest. I always want ALL the tools and toys. I know for me that’s an excuse to not simply throw myself into the interest and get started.

So I now try to talk myself through that tendency: Do I REALLY want to pursue this new interest (or amy I trying to distract myself from other things I should be doing)? If I do want to jump in can I borrow the tools? Start off small? Start with tools I have?

In the past couple years this line of thinking has saved me money and clutter.

    Cheers!

@Dorthy — Out of eight Unclutterer staffers, I know six of us play golf.

This brings to mind the mini fishing rod gizmo that was all the TV rage a few years back, and was absolutely terrible…

I am not a huge golfer so the quality of a club does not mean much to me. This club seems great, would save the hassle of all that luggage. If it is a little crappy in quality, it doesn’t matter, because I suck anyway!

Only a non golfer would think this is a good thing. Totally usless. Better off renting

My dad is an avid golfer and got one of these as a gift a few years ago. Oddly enough for pitch and putt it’s pretty acceptable. Anything under 125 yards it’s not too far off from a regular club. It really lacks as a driver however, but it’s fun to play around with, but embarrassing to lose to.

I must admit, I don’t see an Uncluttery target audience for this. Those Unclutterers who are dedicated golfers are going to need something more than this, because I’m sure it would affect their long game. Those who are players of the occasional round would surely be better off renting a set of clubs for the duration of their game.

While interesting, such a club is against USGA rules, so you couldn’t play in a tournament with such a thing. (You are allowed to have an adjustable club as of this year, but you can’t adjust it during the round.)

I agree with Kate. You either need more than this, or you may as well rent.

(As for the statistical relevance tally, I only have 3 “uncluttery” friends, 2 of them golf, plus me.)

What’s next? An All-in-one-Course? One Hole that can change into any other hole out there.

This is a terrible idea in my opinion because of the limited market. I mean, real golfers are not going to forego all there years of training and use one club. And the casual golfer is probably never going to find something like this, or care to buy it.

Great concept, but I can’t see this being a big hit among many.

I probably have 5-6 uncluttery friends, and none (including me) golfs. I agree it’s a stretch. I wouldn’t fall into the trap of believing that just because the staff does something that the readership does. Staff is not a statistically significant sample size, and it is very self-selecting and skewed.

For a minute there I thought it was Wednesday!!!
Then I checked my calendar and I found out that it wasn’t Wednesday and it wasn’t April Fool’s Day. Now I don’t know what to think.
    Seriously?????

As someone with one cupboard filled with sewing stuff and another jammed with husband’s soccer and Frisbee gunk, I can’t point a finger much about “hobby clutter”.
But maybe this would be handy for the student or the occasional player in really really tight living/commute quarters?
And yes, it’s a uni-tasker, but so is a soccer ball, a football, etc..
