Yeah, this has been in circulation for a minute in my circles. I have a friend who has contemplated getting one (he’s got $$$ like that). Not entirely sure why people keep saying it’s a converted garbage truck when it’s clearly not. There are some awesome ideas for storage/organization in there for sure… but this is a highly customized, specialty vehicle not some nifty DIY project…

Another excellent source of inspiration are family sailing ships. If you can ever approach one, try seeing how they organize everything. You’ll be surprised.

It’s very, *very* cool. I was a little disappointed to find out that it was a commercially available vehicle. I really enjoy it when DIYers can do something like that. It makes me believe that if I didn’t have two left thumbs, I too, could convert a garbage truck into one bad mumba jumba truck.

I want those kitchen drawers! We live in a 250sq ft apt – unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for the wallet), we rent so can’t do anything to the kitchen to make it more functional. It does mean that I don’t cook nearly as much as I used to nor would like to!

there’s the snopes link. I remember seeing this there a while back, and laughing.

Not that it’s all that unusual. I live in Oregon, in a town which has quite a few old schoolbuses and other heavy vehicles converted into mobile housing. Some of the interiors of these things are incredible, and well-built, by the owners.

I originally thought that as well, but a comment, and a link, let me to an image proving that the top of the apartment retracts, so the roof is barely touching the bed. On the outside, this covers the windows.

I call shenanigans.. Inside you see lots of wonderful windows. the outside shot of the truck shows NO windows.

Where do they buy one way invisible windows? I’d love them for my home.

WOW! That’s amazing. It really makes me wonder about doing a 1 year of extreme simple, but healthy living for life simplification and saving some $$$$$.

It also makes me want to actually build my design of a tidy, compact dream house…~1000ft^2 with a big roof that covers the dwelling and a backyard patio. The biggish roof is so that the whole place doesn’t look soo odd in the neighborhood.
