I used curtains across under-counter storage in a science classroom for over 5 years without a problem. It hid the ugly cardboard boxes and plastic bin assortment of resource materials. I shook out the curtains if they had dust bunnies on them but since I had hemmed them to sit above the floor by a half-inch, there was very little problem with dirt. They were suspended by cheap spring-tension rods from the dime store and looked wonderful!

On a limited budget this is a good solution. They do get gross, but can also be laundered as cc points out.

I’m not anywhwere near an Ikea and wanted to use a similar system for my closet “door.” I ended up using a small wooden dowel held up by screw eyes and name tag clips I picked up in the office supply aisle of Walmart.

As to the cleanliness- hem them before you hang them and they wash up easy.

This is only asthetically pleasing when fully closed (which they usually aren’t when in use) and they have to be cleaned soooo often. Has anyone used fabric curtains as cabinet doors long term? They get so gross.

I like this solution because it is one of the most affordable things you can do to hide your storage, computer cables, etc.

Those of us with limited budgets can even do this. Extra bed linens lying around or odd ones, not being used….perfect free fabric to use. Purchase some hook and loop tape and use this for installation if you can’t afford a rod and hooks or other methods.

I’m also not usually a fan of skirting around tables, but this works really well. Plus the fabric choice is great…bright and fun.

Nice use of space. I’m not a fan of fabric draping around tables, but it does its job well here.
