Yes it is a wonderful concept I have a usb port in my car and with a little of my special mounting tape I can see this as a great add on to my ACless car. My question is how long can I expect this device to run properly before it becomes garbage and no longer cools my drinks?

I think my husband would love to have one on his desk, he always wants something icy cold. but does it really do that.

We have a woman in my office who is severely diabetic. She must keep a supply of insulin in the fridge and a “kit” in her desk at all times. I would like to think this could be a nice alternative for her for security, privacy, and possibly help her in an emergency. Perhaps not, but I can see a use for this (or something similar) outside the clutter.

Okay, I actually think this is cool. I would love to have a place to keep my drink cold while I leave my desk for a while. I hate coming back to a warm soda. Not that I have a desk. I am out in the field all day, but if I did, I might actually get one of these!!

@ Peter (a different one): voltage is not a measure of power. But since you asked:

USB gets a 5V from the computer. Under initial handshaking conditions it’s allowed to draw up to 100mA which would mean 500mW of power. Once connected, it’s allowed to ask the computer for more current, either 500mA(2.5W power) or 1A(5W of power). My guess is that this little fridge takes the full 5W. Which should keep things pretty cold. Your kitchen fridge is probably in the 1kW range and has much more than 200 times the volume to cool down.

Honestly, I would buy the coffee cup warmer. I can’t tell you how many times I have poured myself a cup of tea and found it cold by the time I got around to drinking it! There isn’t usually much of a window there between too hot and luke warm.

My school just kicked off their fundraiser today with a high energy assembly to show the kids what they can win by getting people to subscribe to magazines.

This exact item was a huge hit. Seven hundred kids went “WOOOOWWW” when it came onscreen. All they have to do is sell about 78 magazine subscriptions and they, too, can have a desktop mini-cooler!

I wouldn’t mind having one of these to keep my can of Dr Pepper cool on my desk.
I was just given the cup/drink cooler, and sadly, it doesn’t work. My glass of coke just warmed up to room temperature while using it.

I’ll need a USB hub for my mini fridge, my 4 in 1 lamp and my USB hot water heater. Come to think of it the Brando should have included that mini fridge on the lamp. Make it a 5 in 1 with the fridge on it, and who could resist owning that? No one.

I’d never get it, but I must concede it is kinda cute, and since a diet coke can be something of a motivational device for me, it would be a nice reminder that after I finished whatever I was working on my frosty refreshment would be right there waiting for me…
