In-store and online sale at The Container Store

The Container Store is having a summer sale between now and September 1. The sale applies to all of the store locations, as well as online. Here are a couple of my favorite items featured in the sale:

If you’re a crafty type or have a home workbench that needs some organizing help, I recommend checking out the Clip ‘N Go Craft Caddy. It’s currently $5 off its regular price and perfect for buttons or nails.

Two Elfa file carts also are on sale. The Plantinum Mesh File Cart and White Mesh File Cart are $20 off their regular prices. If you’re in need of extra file support in your home or office, these carts might be perfect for you.

(Although, we still recommend that you avoid the unitasker Squeasy Tea Bag Squeezer.)

I cannot tell you how many of these Elfa carts we have purchased for clients! They are fantastic.

I recently went into The Container Store here in my area for the first time. I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped a little and my eyes bugged out at the endless rows full of things to help you get organized. I definitely stopped in my tracks and gazed around…until I noticed the cashier near the door looking at me with a chuckle. I am sure I am not the first!

Alex Frankel talks about the hiring process and the philosophy of the Container store in his book “Punching In”

I was impressed with how they stacked up against other organizations such as UPS, starbucks, the apple store etc.

(btw – have no affiliation with him – I just thought they were really neat.)

I have owned the elfa cart for a couple of months. I really liked it at first but I have the same darn problem with it over and over. The little casters that hold the wheels keep flying off and the whole cart comes crashing down dangerously near my toes since I store the cart underneath the middle of my desk. I’ve written the Container Store and they sent me new casters but the cart continues to fall apart. I don’t know what’s going on exactly. Maybe I just have a defective cart. I just thought I’d post a comment and see if anyone else was having this problem.

I’ve owned the Elfa cart for a couple of months and also store it under my desk and haven’t had any problem with the casters. Maybe you do have a defective one, Melissa. Bummer. I love my Elfa cart–it’s so superior to the one it replaced!

Hi, sorry you’re having difficulty with your elfa cart. I have several of them and they’ve always performed reliably; rolling over hard surface floors, carpets, even across a bumpy flagstone patio. I’ve always found the staff at the store to be very helpful so you might just load the empty cart into your car and take it back to the store. Ask them to either replace the cart or fix it. If they fix it, i.e. put the caster back in, make a note of the date, name of associate who helped you and what he said was wrong. Then if it happens again, take it back and request a replacement or a store credit. If you still have the receipt you can request a cash refund. I had a similar problem with one of the little “grocery” carts they sell and they were completely willing to work with me. I know that’s a bit of trouble and you might not want to invest that much time and effort but it might be worth a try. Regards Phyllis
