I haven’t had a S’more since Girl Scout camp many years ago, but I suspect that it just doesn’t taste the same if the marshmallow isn’t toasted over a campfire, preferably until the outer coating is brown to black charred and inside is creamy. You can’t reproduce this in a microwaved marshmallow and probably it’s tricky in a regular oven.

I’m with comboman here – that’s why you add the water. This is also why you place your cake pan INSIDE of another pan filled half-full with water when you bake it – keeps the cakes/brownies moist and keeps the tops from hardening. I would imagine it would do the same for the marshmallows.

I thought I read somewhere a recipe where you assembled the smores and wrapped them individually in foil, then put them in the oven under the broiler to heat through.

Non-clutter s’mores: spread 2 grahams with chocolate frosting, then a layer of marshmallow fluff. Smoosh.

Perhaps you missed the part about filling the device with water? That’s why the marshmallows don’t over cook at 30 seconds, the water is also being heated.

I’d roast them over a gas flame before I’d nuke them. They taste better browned, and they want to spill all over nuked.

I think you could probably repurpose a George Foreman grill or any kind of nonstick panini press or waffle iron for this, too.

We’ve been making S’mores in the Microwave all summer but I have the kids convinced that putting chocolate in one makes it a “special grown-up s’more.” so they will eat them without chocolate.

as you all know . . . the secret to a good s’more is warm graham crackers. And, uh, how does this help those of us wno like their marshmellows burnt to a crisp before becoming part of a ooey-gooey s’more? Best unitasker ever!

Bah–just build them, put them on a plate, and nuke them for 10-15 seconds. Works great!
