How timely...

It seems everyone nowadays is looking to downsize and simplify. The small workspace needs attention given to it.

It's a tightly organized desk, I will say that. I like it for the cleanliness and seeming use of vertical space (I assume the wood just to the top-right of the screen is for a shelving unit of some form).
I am redesigning my workspace at home from a large Ikea Jerker desk (the large flat one (about 76cm x 152cm (for 30"x60" for Imperial users)) that has about 1.15m sq (or 12.5 sq ft) of surface) down to something in the 0.55m sq (6 sq ft) size and use tiered shelves on the desk as well as above it to provide space and clear the clutter from the current desk. If the result it good enough, I will post pictures.

That's about as small as my workspace! I have a similar desk but mine has an even shorter shelf as a third-tier on which I keep my monitor, my Moleskine, my mug full of pens, a couple of snazzy paper weights, and a framed photo of me and my boyfriend.

I have my laptop on a side shelf of my desk (sort of where you see the CDs or DVDs in the photo above) and pull it out only when I need to get out of my office chair for a while but still have to work.

I also have desk space for my always open desk calendar, 2 legal pads (stacked one on top of the other), and a calculator with roll of paper to the left of the calendar. My CDs are tucked under the third-tier shelf for easy visibility and access while still being out of clutter's way. Finally, I even have on a side shelf a few of my most often used toiletries so I don't forget to moisturize, etc., b/c I tend to jump right back in font of the computer after a bath instead of spending any more time in the bathroom to do these things that I should.

So excited that an approximation of my work space is pictured here on Unclutterer!
