iHome iH70 speakers also act as iPod dock

If you are looking for new computer speakers you may want to check out the iHome iH70 speakers. They also act as a dock for your iPod and syncs to iTunes. From iHome:

The iH70 charges, plays and syncs your iPod with iTunes while it’s docked securely into the base of the computer speakers.

Comes complete with a computer port, sync switch, volume controls and a headphone jack for private listening.

With the dock built into these speakers you can remove the iPod dock (does anyone ever use the actual dock) or wire from your desk. Less wires and multifunctional products are always a plus.

These speakers aren’t available until July, but you can pre-order them through iHome’s site.

    Well, if there’s an actual speaker behind the docked iPod then it’s not the best design… Placing an obstacle right in front of a speaker ruins the sound.

    @Zsolt – my thoughts exactly.

    There are way better, better looking and clutter free iPod docks. The iPod HiFi is great but has been discontinued. I have the Soundstick II (2+1) system which is ok but not good enough. Today I’d get the B&W Zeppelin. It’s one single speaker which mean no cables, it has a iPod dock and is supposed to sound incredibly good.

    Sorry: fewer wires, not less wires

    Gee, on first inspection, I thought for sure this was a comedic UNITASKER post, only to realize that this post perhaps belongs over at gizmodo or slashdot. I think the i* generation of electronics are bigtime clutter creators. What happens in 2 years when you get a new ipod? You then have a speaker set that won’t work with your new toy. Solution? Buy another speaker set. Clutter: 1, Rationality: 0.

    My preference is to have a nice speaker set with a simple 1/8″ input or RCA input, neither of which are going away any time soon, and is a simple connection from ANY ipod like device.

    Pete Larson – all ipods so far have the same connector plugger inner thingy (pardon my technicalese), so if you get a new one, you can use the same speakers.

    I have the alarm clock/ radio / ipod dock thing from ihome. It’s awesome – I use it in my kitchen.

    While a great idea in theory, iHome isn’t exactly known for their audio quality. I’m not the kind of girl who wires a set of Wilsons to her computer, but I do like my computer speakers to not have the fidelity of a tin can.

    Purchasing for quality and reliability is a part of the uncluttered lifestyle, as well.
