tip #8 is awesome, so simple yet so effective. God only knows how many times those folders go all wrangly or slide way too far to the back. Simple fixes rule. Thanks !

Big binder clips for wrangling wires, medium binder clips for hanging curtains, binder clip + nail = cheap art hanger, use instead of chip clips…I worked in an art supply store about 10 years ago, while cleaning out a back room we found boxes and boxes of binder clips and other office supplies. The boss told us to take them home, he didn’t want to deal with them. I still have boxes of them. For a while “binder clip!” was the answer to everything.

The only bad thing about this post is that it made me want to bring home a box of big binder clips from work ASAP - oops, clutter! I’ve been using them for years to close up chip bags, the inner bag in a box of cereal, etc.; much better than any of the other options. They are also good for hanging off hooks on the wire grid I use in my kitchen to hold utensils etc., so that I can then clip items to them that otherwise couldn’t hang from there (e.g., potholders that don’t have hanging loops).
One place binder clips are NOT optimal: I once used a big one to clip up a ponytail; unfortunately I got a couple of strands of hair caught in the flanges on the front of the clip, which was mildly painful. I can’t say it wasn’t effective in a pinch, though.

This is an AWESOME tip. I have implemented it immediately. I have been struggling for years with hanging folders falling off their track. I even concocted a tape and paper version but it is nowhere near as effective as the binder clip!!! THANKS!!!

This tip didn’t work for me. The clips weren’t secure and kept moving around. To keep my hanging files neat, I just put empty extra ones in the back.
