On the bedroom clutter issue - I live in New York City and have never (so far) owned an apartment with a closet. I don't mean just a bedroom closet - I mean any closet anywhere in the apartment. They've long been removed so that the landlord can claim more usable square footage. SO I have put two large wardrobes in the bedroom and a dresser - all to hold our clothes (we are a married couple). Do you have any tips for decluttering a bedroom that could work for real people like us? We'd need to toss out the couch if we were to move the clothes into the loving room.

Mother of 3 and wife to a packrat. Fighting the good fight. Trying to get more stuff out of the house, through the back door, (mostly to local charities) than comes through the front door. It isn't easy, but I do it when family isn't watching. They never even miss it! By stuff, I mean old books, knick knacks (I call them dust-catchers) seldom used kitchen gear (mea culpa) and assorted videos, toys and office junk. Your site is an inspiration to me and and endless source of ideas for streamlining and simplifying my domicile and life.
