Workspace of the Week: All about zen

This week’s Workspace of the Week is Normaniac’s zen office:

Filling his space with greenery and glass, Normaniac’s office is tranquil, free of clutter, and awe-inspiring. This office looks like a place where it would be easy to keep your mind focused on the big picture and calmly move from task to task. A space like this makes working from home a very appealing option.

Want to have your own workspace featured in Workspace of the Week? Submit a picture to the Unclutterer flickr pool. Check it out because we have a nice little community brewing there. Also, don’t forget that workspaces aren’t just desks. If you’re a cook, it’s a kitchen; if you’re a carpenter, it’s your workbench.

Wow, my Zen moment of the day!

Ah, now THAT’s nice. Uncluttered without being dismayingly stark.
The one thing I don’t like is having the monitors on the same wall as the windows – either your screen is backlit (blinds up) or the room is dark (blinds down). Perhaps a translucent, but not sheer, panel would be nice here…

Hi, I’m not able (too stupid, me) to upload my image, but if you like, you could do it for me… You could finde my real desktop here:

I love the use of plants, its still uncluttered, but has a more welcoming feel.

Very elegant! Any idea where I can get one of the Buddha statues? I have been looking for a good one for a while now.

I’d also love to know where you found this Buddha statue – I’ve been looking for one just like this! Great setup, thanks!

I love the look of the glass, but had a chance to work on a similar table once and found it too cold on my arms. A shame, cause it’s also easy to clean.

Try Pier1 stores for various Buddahs.

If you want to see an even more minimalist work station check out this desk/chair set that I designed called the Zen Office. I work on this part of the time. It’s a floor based work station for writing or laptop. I also have a stand up work station called the Eco Desk. It has helped me to get organized by clutter clearing for the first time in my life. There’s just not much room for stuff. I keep my files and books on lower shelves of the Eco Desk and use the upper shelves for placing things like you would use a standard desk.
