We moved at least every 5 years when I was growing up. My mom always made the comment "Three moves equals a fire" as an analogy of how much stuff we got rid of every move!

Last spring, I had to pack and move in a hurry, but I didn't get to unpack right away (all my stuff went to storage). When I returned from the trip I was on and finally moved all those boxes into my new apartment, I was floored. I have amassed so much junk that I don't need (or even want), and the funny thing is that I packed it and paid to store it! I must have thrown away three boxes of just junk I'd been storing. Unbelievable!

I moved twice within two years and it was perfect timing to figure out what I really needed vs. what I could toss or donate. If you don't unpack something for a year and you forgot about it, you probably can just take that box to Goodwill before the next move.

Before I was married, I refused to own anything more than could be packed into my car. It's not as realistic now; however, if we can't fit it into two cars and a U-Haul trailer then I am not interested.

I know it probably sounds extreme but, dang!, people have so much stuff. I may not have as much as the next person, but I love and use what I do have.
