When I returned from the trip I was on and finally moved all those boxes into my new apartment, I was floored. I have amassed so much junk that I don't need (or even want), and the funny thing is that I packed it and paid to store it! I must have thrown away three boxes of just junk I'd been storing. If you don't unpack something for a year and you forgot about it, you probably can just take that box to Goodwill before the next move. It's not as realistic now; however, if we can't fit it into two cars and a U-Haul trailer then I am not interested. I know it probably sounds extreme but, dang!, people have so much stuff.
