Geralin had a terrific suggestion in her comment and I want to attach a link to the product: http://www.theotheredge.com/holdnone/.

I've never seen anything like it, but it looks like a nice alternative. Thank you, Geralin!

Another option for hanging your golf bags & clubs is the Hold-N-One. It's small, inexpensive and easy to install and easy to use.

Get a folding bike. It is, of course, much smaller (I keep it in my trunk, but a closet will work too.) The ride is great and it gets tons of attention.

I've crammed my sporting equipment (bikes, camping & backpacking gear, skis) into a number of small apartments. Some of the storage was prettier to look at than others, maybe one will work for you.

* I pulled my high-backed sofa out from the wall a couple feet to store a bicycle behind
* One bedroom had a narrow, blank wall. I piled my gear along it and draped sheets over. In another place, I hung drapes in front of the section of wall where I stored my gear.
* I've devoted closet space to gear. I stored the off-season clothing under my bed to make room.
