Workspace of the Week: My new favorite office

This week’s Workspace of the Week is MaryEarly75’s home office:

I have to be honest with all of you, this may be my favorite office yet. Wow. I stared at it for five minutes before I could even turn and look at something else. The picture says it all.

Want to have your own workspace featured in Workspace of the Week? Submit a picture to the Unclutterer flickr pool. Check it out because we have a nice little community brewing there. Also, don’t forget that workspaces aren’t just desks. If you’re a cook, it’s a kitchen; if you’re a carpenter, it’s your workbench.

This is a fabulous office. What an excellent use of a bookcase! Working in this space must be an absolute pleasure!

Love this! Where can we buy the desk and shelving unit? Thank you!

I was going to ask the same thing Leah asked. I would LOVE to have that type of desk/bookcase combo!

@Leah — Leave a comment on the picture in Flickr and hopefully MaryEarly75 will get back to you. I actually believe that the desk folds up into the bookshelf, which makes me love it all the more.

love it, except for the chair. the chair does not look conducive to productivity.

Can a chair be too comfortable? The chair was one of the two things that attracted my attention (the other being the cone sculptures).

I love the chair – that small pop of color really makes it seem cozy while everything is still completely organized and laid out simply.

This office looks amazing. It’s uncluttered, but also pretty. Thumbs up!

Those wax cones are for sale, by the way.

I’m posting for the first time on this blog just to say that I want that chair. It’s a very cool office!

The chair is made of steam-bent laminated wood and is surprisingly flexible. Comfortable to sit in while working at the desk. It’s by Peter Danko.

Our parents purchased that wall unit almost 30 years ago. Mary, is it Scan? The wax sculptures are all Mary’s.

There is a problem with this set up. If you plan to use this desk/chair combo for extended periods of time, I am seeing carpal tunnel ahead because neither the chair or desk are adjustable. Believe me that will happen. It’s nice to have things look nice and pop, but if your wrists hurt, you won’t be using them. I’d get a nice looking, fully adjustable, ergonomic chair…Also in this bright light you’d probably have to keep the window/door shade closed most of the time to see the screen.
