Workspace of the Week: A car’s glove box
This week’s Workspace of the Week is Toffer’s glove box modification:
Toffer explains what is featured in the photograph:
I shoved my spare hipster PDA into the tissue dispenser of my glove box, took some pens and put them in the slot to load napkins and then taped a pad of re-stickable post-it notes to the side.
Repurposing a car’s glove box as an uncluttered, personal workspace is a brilliant idea! Thank you, Toffer, for the creative suggestion.
Want to have your own workspace featured in Workspace of the Week? Submit a picture to the Unclutterer flickr pool. Check it out because we have a nice little community brewing there. Also, don’t forget that workspaces aren’t just desks. If you’re a cook, it’s a kitchen; if you’re a carpenter, it’s your workbench.

Does it still hold papers (registration, insurance, car manual, maintenance records etc) without them flying out every time you open it? if not, where do you store these? (registration especially, since it needs to be in easy reach if you get pulled over or get in an accident.)

@RK — It looks to me like the modification is only to the door of the glove box, not the interior.

I keep everything I need when I get pulled over in my visor. So I don’t have to dig around anywhere- I do not want to get tazed. I didn’t shoot the interior because that’s where the girlfriend’s emergency supply of “things” go. I do keep a Tide pen and a lint roller too.
Thanks for picking me.

I actually did something similar a few months back in my 1965 Buick Skylark using an old jello pudding box and a hard drive magnet

Perhaps slightly less elegant than the glove box setup, but it gets the job done!

This is great! I wish I had this last night when Boston closed down and it took hours to get anywhere. I was stuck in traffic for 7 hours trying to get home and could have gotten a lot of good ideas down on paper (or at least had something to doodle on).
