I bought a stainless steel workshop table from target.com for my dining area, along with 2 stainless steel stools.
The lower shelf works wonders for a basket with alcohol bottles, a basket with misc computer equipment, and a basket with stuff that needs to be sorted/stored.

The Envelope Dining Table looks a lot like one I own, which is the Bjursta from Ikea (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70116262). The Ikea version is less expensive, obviously. We have had ours for three years and can generally get 12 people seated during holidays (though it is definitely more comfortable with 10 or less).
