Check out Zwaggle
We’ve written about sites like Freecycle and Craigslist on ways to get rid of things you no longer use or want. Zwaggle is a very interesting concept in that it is specifically for baby products. Do you need a stroller? Are you looking to get rid of that changing table? You may want to check out Zwaggle.
From Zwaggle’s site:
Zwaggle was created with our own families in mind. We value neighborhood and conservation, and envision an online community that reflects a strong sense of social responsibility while helping families manage their resources. We believe in promoting a sense of sharing, trust, and respect for one another, our resources, and our environment.
Zwaggle is shaped by our community members. We strive to provide services and forums that are relevant, educational, and easy to use. We encourage all members to participate in a way that demonstrates our shared ideals of cooperation and collaboration in making our global community – online and off – a better place.
Thanks to Amy, one of our readers, for pointing us to this service.

Lately I’ve been selling loads of my used stuff on eBay. It’s addicting and very helpful in uncluttering my living space.

Parents can pick up free baby apparel, toys, and baby gear locally via Freepeats.org, a new service that started in Atlanta. It will be opening in 24 major cities in 2008.

There is one great huge problem with this site: you have to give in order to get. That kind of system is great for stuff you always need, but it just doesn’t make sense with kid stuff. When you are looking to get kid stuff you don’t have anything to give away to get point, and once your kids are grown up and you’re ready to give away your stuff your points don’t do you any good.
But I’m just bitter because I’m a first time parent and this site is totally useless to me because I don’t have anything to give away to get points.

Hi this is Andrew. I’m one of the co-founders of Zwaggle. First thanks to Amy for sharing Zwaggle with Unclutterer. The more parents that know about Zwaggle the better. We believe Zwaggle is a valuable resource for parents with distinct advantages over Freecycle, Craigslist and Ebay.
To Katie’s concern, there are in fact several ways for a first time parent to earn points without having any items to share, including joining which earns you 50 points (about one or two items worth usually) and referring friends which earns you 15 points every time they join. So you can see how quickly you can earn points and start preparing for your first child all without spending any money. In addition, we will be adding a feature soon that will make it even easier for first time parents to get more points.
Also, Zwaggle is for parents with kids of all ages, so once you’re done with the stroller you can get a wagon and then a bike or a video games system and on and on. And then when you’re done, you can satisfy the kid in you with some new movies or electronics, or better yet donate your points to a charity and receive a tax deduction.
