I actually like the design of the lights with the speakers. I think it could have been done much, much worst. I would use them if their sound quality was better.

There are other more elegant solutions out there, such as recessed wall and ceiling speakers whose coverings can be painted to match the wall/ceiling and take on an inobtrusive appearance. Or there are the NXT ultra flat speaker panels. I think that a lamp/speaker combo is impractical - rarely does one want light in the same place as speakers and as such you would probably end up creating a cluttered out of place look.

I think that speakers in general need a redesign. Maybe I am too particular, but I just think that most are ugly or at best moderately bearable. Speakers that multi-task almost seems like asking too much. My husband and I have put off purchasing a good sound system for months because we cannot agree on one that has both the form and function that we want.

[...] Unclutterer wrote an interesting post today on The wireless speaker lampHere’s a quick excerpt Over at Wired’s Gadget Reviews, they take a look and listen at a cool concept from Soundolier … , although cool in concept, the reviewed product seems to be lacking in what it delivers. From Wired … wires. But, the review isn’t exactly glowing, so I’d hold off on this concept until it is a bit [...]

Not to mention that it's UGLY! I would rather wire speakers into my walls than buy something like that. What are you going to do with the old lamps you have?
