Self’s 30 day organization project

My friend Dani tipped me off to Self Magazine’sOne-Month Makeover” project. The project promises that “In 30 Days, You Can Get Organized.” From their website:

Reorganize your life in 30 days. All you have to do: Try one new easy tip each day. Keep the ones you like, toss the ones you don’t.

You can sign up on their website here if you’re interested in playing along! It sounds like a fun organizational project.

    “Make your bed
Keeping your sheets and covers neat takes two measly minutes and makes the entire room look pulled together.”

And encourages the survival of bed mites which cause respiratory problems.

Eh…I don’t want to sign up for another activity — I need to unclutter my life of these types of extras (even if they are supposed to help). I’ve enjoyed reading Self Magazine from time to time — but I think I’ll stick to reading the Unclutterer.com blog for tips I think would help me organize my life now and in the longer term.

I always toss back my bedsheets after I get up and leave them to air while getting breakfast, showering, etc. The bed ends up getting made after 30 minutes of airing.

But unless everyone with a messy bed leave the sheets flung out, totally exposed, you’re still going to get some bed mites. The typical unmade bed is pretty crumpled and would probably be almost as good as a made bed for giving them a place to live.

If you’re really concerned about mites, change your sheets daily. If you’re not having respiratory problems, airing your bedclothes briefly every morning and changing them once a week should be fine.
