Unclutter your morning web surfing
You’re probably familiar with the many “user-created” link aggregating websites that seem to be sprouting up all the time. The advantage of such sites is their democratic, free-wheeling nature. At the same time, their content tends to become cluttered with posts about the latest celebrity scandal, or pictures of cute animals with poor grammar.
The company behind Unclutterer wants to change that.
Today we announce the launch of Shoutingmat.ch. It’s a social news aggregator, like Digg or Reddit, with one important distinction. Instead of depending on visitors to post and up-moderate content, Shoutingmat.ch scours A-list blogs and uses a social rank algorithm to generate and order links from the content referenced on those blogs. It also lets you see exactly what bloggers are saying about a particular story, by simply clicking on a small arrow next to the post title.
You can also participate in the comments sections we’ve created to let you “shout out and be heard.”
Shoutingmat.ch currently features topic areas for Politics, and Technology, as well as a section for Lifehackers, which will no doubt be interesting for all us Unclutterers.
So, check out ShoutingMat.ch and unclutter your web surfing.

What does this system use to pull from? It doesn’t seem to cover a huge number of blogs and just aggregates a few. Further, what do you use to consider to be an A-list blog? Personally, there are sufficient tools to see what certain people are saying — I want a tool that aggregates what a greater number of people are saying.

It’s currently restricted to about 100 blogs from each category (tech, politics, and lifehacks). We’ll definitely be adding more as time goes on. If you have any suggestions, please let us know.

Nice idea, but the interface as it stands needs a lot of work. Way, way too big, and makes it hard to see what the story is. Most of us are likely to be pretty time poor, and would prefer to be able to scan easily.

Not to mention the URL is bewildering. I actually visited the site this morning, and then tried to go back, and could not for the life of me figure out what to type. All the space in my brain for clever URL non-sequiturs was used up by http://del.icio.us and there’s none left for http://www.shoutingmat.ch, sorry.

Speaking of cluttered web surfing, why are dozens of uncluttered’s old posts suddenly cluttering my feedreader? It’s set to ignore updates… are things being reposted somehow?
