I agree with Chris (Aug 8). Plus, my boyfriend actually has one of these (he’s Swedish) and it works really well. (And it * is * his only spatula-type implement.) So all in all, I think there are more pointless objects than this.

Actually, this item would rock for someone with limited manual ability (i.e. use of only one hand). It would need a better grip, but it’s clever and a nice piece of Universal Design. Its mock-ability has more to do with context…the cheesy marketing strategy.

I’m with Lana: I’m not sure the unitasker is unitasked enough. How, using this device, do I get that all important first slice of damn fine cherry pie *out* of the pie dish without mashing it? What will become of the cook’s right to claim an extra piece of pie (the first slice, like the first pancake, never counts and always goes to cook)?

Now wait just a second, unclutterers. What if this were your one and only spatula? The addition of the ejector device would just add to its utility, right? One could use it to flip an omelette – just without using the ejection mechanism. (Lana, good point. Looks cheap.)

Haha! The greatest part about this item is it doesn’t even look like it can do the job. You just know that sucker is gonna mangle the first piece just like all of the others do. And I seriously doubt it can handle a heavy fruit pie — just look at that stainless steel: cheap. It’ll rust and end up in your garbage after one use.

Anyway, if someone wants your delicious pie, they should be willing to deal with a thumbprint or two.
