Merlin’s war on clutter

Over on the web’s ‘canonical’ productivity blog, 43 Folders, Merlin Mann has gone decluttering crazy. Inspired by Peter Walsh’s book How to Organize Just About Everything, which he found out about from this humble site, Merlin went into purge mode and nicely cataloged his experience in a a great series of uncluttering posts.

  1. My War on Clutter
  2. My War on Clutter: Never “organize” what you can discard
  3. My War on Clutter: The Tools to Purge BIG
  4. My War on Clutter: Inspiration for Independence Day

We imagine a fair number of folks will be finding their way here thanks to Merlin, so 43 Folders readers: welcome! We hope you find the site useful. Check out our interview with Peter Walsh, look in the archives for juicy morsels, and subscribe to our RSS feed while you’re at it.

I’m a 42f reader who found this site, thanks to Merlin. I’m glad I’m here, too. This will help me from fighting the same battle with my dining room table every other day. Thanks.

I also found you through Merlin and now you’re on my list of sites to check on a regular basis. As the recent “victim” of a city-caused whole house AND garage flood (backhoe + mislocated city water main = 3500 gallons saturation every square inch) I’ve been having to do some serious sorting, evaluating, and tossing, so I’m counting on this site for backup when I want to hang on to something I unearth from the depths of wherever and think to myself, “I forgot I had this, I haven’t used it since I moved in 10 years ago, but I’d better hang on to it JUST IN CASE.”
