Purveyors of clutter

There are certain places that people should not shop if they are trying to curb their clutter. These places offer nothing more than knick-knacks and trinkets. Basically, you are buying things you don’t need to satisfy an urge to fill space in your home. The following shops are the type of stores an uncluttered lifestyle often can do without.

Sharper Image: Almost every mall has a Sharper Image in it. Skip the stress relievers and try uncluttering your workspace. The stress of a clean and organized desk will relieve your stress in no time.

Country Clutter: Clutter is in the place’s name! (At least they’re honest about it.) Do you really need a figurine of a teddy bear fishing or playing hopscotch?

Sky Mall: Admit it, you’ve looked through the magazines while you fly. My wife and I play a little game as we look through the ridiculous products they offer. We find the most hideous thing on the page and cover up the price, the other person has to guess how much the object is. It is quite the time waster.

Feel free to add your suggestions to the no shopping list in the comments.

Habitat! I was quite tempted by a tiffin in there the other day, until common sense kicked in.

Avoid the mall if possible. It forces you into an environment of seeing many things/stores that you didn’t set out to shop for and makes impulse shopping too easy.

    “Gift” stores of any kind.
